The summer has been an absolute blast full of fun, sun and lots of laughs all of which require lots of energy but the autumnal mornings are creeping in and the kit for school is just about ready. As ever, the turn of season requires a renewal of oomph as the early get ups resume, the classes begin and the jam packed regimen of extra-curricular starts afresh. I predicted by 1.30pm on the first day back to school our 5 year old would require a nap. It’s important therefore that we fuel ready for this demanding start, by having a balanced diet. Since she’s been age ready for vitamin supplements we’ve made sure that the Little Lady has taken them. There have been corking smells that slap you right in the nose as you unleash the lid and that has presented a small mountain of a challenge to get her to take them (we quickly changed brand to find one that works) but Bassetts Vitamins asked us to try out the Omega-3 + Multivitamins Orange Flavour pastilles that come in blister packs, so we have given them the sniff test and taste test and they have been very well received.
I know you shouldn’t encourage the oddities that children use when learning new phrases or words but I quite like the way that the Little Lady refers to her vitamin as a ‘bettermin’ so it’s one that has stuck and we have all taken to referring to them as such. I asked her what she likes about the bettermin/ Bassetts Vitamins. Here is what she said: ‘They are really chewy and they smell a lot better than those yucky ones we had before. They are like a burst of fresh orange in my mouth. And,….. I really like the taste – yum yum!’. I’ll add here that her two year old sister, who has not tried the vitamins, then added echo style ‘yum yum’ so as to reinforce the message. What neither of them need to know is that the Bassetts Vitamins ‘bettermin’ has no added sugar or colours but does have natural flavours (she could clearly tell). With the supplements of vitamin B6 to support ‘normal’ psychological function and vitamin B5 which contributes to mental performance, I’m hoping that the Little Lady’s set-up for a smart way to start the day. No doubt year 1 will bring its own challenges but with a vitamin supplement for a kid who already loves a vegetable we should be on the right track. I do note that vitamins should not be used as a substitute for a healthy and balanced diet.
A pack of 30 Bassetts Vitamin Omega 3 +Multivitamins Orange Flavour Pastilles has a RRP of £5.50 and are suitable for children aged 3-6. They have been well received in our household with calls of ‘can I have my bettermin now’ and ‘don’t forget my bettermin Daddy’. The countdown to school is complete, the new uniform is on the line, the prep for superhero week is nearly complete – and we’re ready to go with new Bassets Vitamin Omega 3 + Multivitamins Orange Flavour Pastilles. Give them a try!
