We were very excited to have been challenged by Matalan to take on their £25 Mother’s Day Hamper Challenge to create the perfect bundle of gifts for mummy!
So, today we set out to our local store in order to create our hamper but where to start? Mrs View From a Daddy can be fussy but there was plenty on offer to choose from in store today. The little lady soon got us off to a good start (that is after we had taken a detour to the Frozen Elsa glitter shoes) and spotted a 2 pack of comfy bobble socks for £4.00, which will be a great hit! Next, we perused some of the lovely Mother’s Day gifts in the specially allocated section. There were a number of pretty items from mugs to cushions and candles to rather large wine glasses. We decided as our mommy is awaiting a new arrival and not able to touch any wine at the moment to go with a lovely terracotta mug. Although, she’s off the wine, she’s definitely on the decaffeinated hot tea so this mug emblazoned with ‘love’ will hit the spot on Mother’s Day morning which cost £5.00. We still had some more money to spend so we moved to explore the candles; another firm favourite in our house. There a number of delicious scents in a range of designs. We sniffed and ummed and ahhhed and finally decided to go for a hurricane vase with a church candle that can be a lasting memory from our Matalan Mother’s Day Hamper Challenge. It’s fair to say that we could have spent the budget on the delightful scents that Matalan currently has available. The candle and vase set cost us £10.00 leaving a little extra for something else. With the updated spring range in store, we decided to see what t-shirts we liked that would appeal to mommy. After some more umming and ahhing we went for the ‘conversational’ t-shirt which we are sure will be gladly received. Costing just £6.00, this took us up to our total budget of £25.00.
We had lots of fun exploring the store and planning what would go into our hamper. What’s more we learnt about numbers and using a budget. Although one of us is only two, we were able to make important decisions and enjoy ourselves at the same time. We will definitely plan an activity like this again. Thank you Matalan, for inviting View From a Daddy to take part in the Matalan £25 Mother’s Day Hamper Challenge. We can’t wait for mommy to see the gifts!
